Four days. Three
hours per day. A lifetime of results.
The "Double
My Reading Speed" course is amazing in its effectiveness, and it is now
available “live” or over
the internet. Over 90% of those who
take this course at least double their speed…while improving or maintaining
their comprehension level.
A Bit of
History
After the WWII
attack on Pearl Harbor, 285,000 American pilots received unusual training with a
device called a tachistoscope. The
device was used to flash photos of planes--both friendly and hostile--at
extremely high speeds. In preparation for aerial combat, the pilots learned to
recognize planes in 1/100th of
a second! This training is credited with saving thousands of American lives.
The "Double
My Reading Speed" course combines tachistoscope technology with modern computer
technology to dramatically enhance your reading skills in just four days.
You will
enjoy the process, and you will be amazed at the results.
One big attraction for young people
is they can conquer their reading assignments twice as fast, so they end up with
much more free time. It's
not just a matter of doing better in school, doing better on the SAT, and having
a better shot at getting into the college they hope to go to. They will
also have more time to be with family and friends, to work out, to sleep...in
short to live a more balanced and enjoyable life.
This course is designed for adults,
college students, and high school students. It is recommended for those 14
and up.

What
causes people to read
slowly?
1)
Single-word Eye Fixations—stopping
your eyes on one word at a time. (You can more than double your reading
rate simply by learning to stop your eyes on groups of 3-5 words rather than on
one word at a time.)
2)
Sub-vocalization--moving
your tongue or lips while reading silently. This habit makes it difficult to
read any faster than you can talk. It also makes reading unnecessarily tiring.
Note:
Subvocalization is not the same thing
as mental hearing. Sub-vocalization is bad; hearing the words in your mind
is good.
3) Micro-Regression--skipping
back to an earlier word or line. Each time you regress, you present the author's
words to your brain in the wrong
order! This habit not only slows you down; it is also
terrible for your comprehension
level.
Overcome this habit, and your speed and comprehension will both shoot up.
4) Macro-Regression--re-reading
caused by daydreaming and loss of concentration. Perhaps you can relate to this
experience…
You read to the bottom of a page and as your hand moves down to flip it over,
you suddenly realize,
I have no clue what is on that page.
I’m guess I have to read it
again.
Have you ever had it happen several times on the same page? You start
thinking,
I hate this page! I never want to see
this page again, so I’m going to slow down and really concentrate.
Ironically, this problem is caused by reading too slowly in the first place!
God designed your brain to receive information fast enough to hold your
attention. Imagine watching a movie at 1/2 speed or at 1/3 speed. Even if it’s
a good movie, you probably won't think it's good. A 2-hour movie would
take 4-6 hours, and it would be difficult to stay focused when the information
is coming at you so slowly.
Many people think reading is boring, but it’s just that they do it too slowly.
They are causing their own misery!
The solution? You can more than double your speed by making eye fixations on
groups of words rather than on one word at a time. As you speed up,
it's like putting the movie on at the
right speed! You’ll have less trouble with daydreaming and loss of
concentration. Reading becomes much
more engaging and interesting.
The "Double My Reading Speed" course will
show you how to overcome all four habits in just four days. The course is
enjoyable, and you will love the results.

What are the three
stages of reading?
When children learn to read at about age 4 or 5, most sound out words by
stopping their eyes on one letter at a time. This is
Stage 1 (using tunnel vision on each
individual letter).
As young readers progress, they begin to stop their eyes on one word at a time.
Stage 2 (using tunnel vision on each
individual word) is certainly a big improvement over Stage 1, but
unfortunately, most people stay in Stage 2 for the rest of their lives!
People in this stage cannot read more than 240 words per minute, and they can
easily feel overwhelmed by their reading load in school or on the job. Many
don't even realize that there is a third stage.
Stage 3 involves taking advantage of a gift God gave all of us: peripheral
vision. Stage 3 means making eye
fixations on groups of words rather than on one word at a time.
When you first start reading in Stage 3, your mind may say, "This is really
weird. I'm really flying, but can I go this fast and still comprehend as well
as I used to?"
As long as this unwanted commentary is going on in your mind, your comprehension
will probably nosedive. The newness of the technique will distract you from
what the author is trying to tell you. But you need to persevere! After about
15-20 minutes, you'll start getting used to the new technique. Then your brain
will stop the unwanted commentary, and your comprehension will rebound because
you will be able to focus fully on what the author is saying.
As the new technique becomes second
nature to you, your effective reading rate will skyrocket.

When my reading speed goes up, will my
comprehension go down?
Without proper training, an increase in speed will generally result in a
drop in comprehension. Often, in their attempt to go fast, people resort to
skimming…which involves skipping words and just going after the main points.
Skimming is a useful technique when you don't need high comprehension. However,
when you do, skimming is not a good strategy.
The "Double My
Reading Speed" course will teach you to make eye fixations on meaningful groups
of words, rather than on one word at a time. This technique gives both high
speed and high comprehension.
Some people fear
they will not be able to comprehend as well if they stop their eyes on several
words at a time, but
just the opposite
is true! Words are easier to comprehend if you see them in context,
rather than seeing just one word at a time.
